Event Date: 15-17 November 2017
The 20th SME Annual Showcase & Conference 2017 (SMIDEX) will be the largest established SME showcase in Malaysia bringing forth together SMEs, Large Companies and Multi National Corporations to showcase the latest products, services, and technologies for the global market.
The event will also showcase programmes such as WhaddaHack (crazy ideas and big changes solution), SME Conference, Pocket Talk, Big Match, opening ceremony and SMIDEX exhibition.
The Small Medium Enterprise Annual Showcase (SMIDEX) 2017 is expected to raise a combined sales of RM555 million this year, as compared to RM529 million sales last year, with an expected 10,000 visitors throughout its three-day event.
SME Corp Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Dr Hafsah Hashim said the sales target would be driven by 400 exhibitors, mainly from ministries and agencies, financial institutions and SMEs participations.
“The local SME segment is expected to contribute about 37 per cent to the country’s growth by this year’s end in anticipation of between 5.6 per cent and 5.7 per cent gross domestic product (GDP) this year,” she said at a media briefing on SMIDEX & SME Conference 2017, in Kuala Lumpur, today.
SME Corp corporate management division director Czarif Chai Abdullah said SMIDEX 2017 is focused on digitalisation of SMEs, themed ‘Embracing Change, Enhancing Gain’.
She added the event is aimed to encourage entrepreneurship and spur the growth of local SMEs, in line with the government efforts to create more activities or programmes for the SME promotions.
Meanwhile, the SME Conference 2017, from November 15-16, will comprise five sessions with five moderators, 11 panelists and two luncheon talks, with only 500 available.
“The conference will deliberate on opportunities for SMEs especially on how those in the traditional sectors and least prepared take up the challenges and reap the benefit of digital transformation,” he said.
Czarif Chai said the conference would also create a platform for discussion, exchange of information and best practices for SMEs who want to embrace digitalisation.
“Discussion topics include digitalisation – a boost or disruption to traditional business, ten strategies to market business through social media, Women 4.0: The Beautiful Mix of Business – business models for women entrepreneurs, and young & in-demand – inspirational journey of young entrepreneurs into digital entrepreneurship as well as the future of talent – connecting youth to the megatrend and digital as well as youth,” he added.
